Wallflour Bake Shop

Wallflour Bake Shop offers sweet and savory pastries, breads, and desserts to go. You can find them at the Kaka'ako Farmers Market on Saturdays and they pop up at 'ili'ili Cash & Carry on Mondays. What makes them different is they use local ingredients like vanilla, honey, and chocolate. My favorites so far are the burnt basque cheesecake and the vanilla doughnut. I want to try more of their items and now that summer is approaching, I'm looking forward to seeing lychee and mango in there.

If you visit them at the Kaka'ako Farmers Market, I recommend going at 8AM when the market opens. If you go after 10AM, most of their items will be sold out. The line for their tent is long so grab a drink to keep you hydrated while you wait. If you visit the pop up, the line is shorter and you can pre-order online. They will post on Instagram when the online ordering opens and what is on the menu. Some items are reasonably priced and some can be pricey but since this isn't something I can get every day, I don't mind paying more. If you haven't visited them yet, I highly recommend stopping by for some baked goods.

The Daley

The Daley is known for their smash burgers. They have a very simple menu, its burger, fries, soda, and beer. They offer the beyond meat option for those who have dietary restrictions. I recommend the "Daley Burger." It has a single patty but if you want a 2nd patty, you can "double down." I also recommend getting their crinkle-cut fries; they're golden brown and crispy. It tasted like they were twice fried which is the best.

They are located in Chinatown next to Fete at the corner of Hotel Street and Nuuanu Ave. They are open daily from 11am-8pm. I suggest going for an early lunch or eating in the afternoon to avoid the downtown lunch rush. The burgers normally take about 20 minutes so plan ahead and use online ordering. If you go on a Sunday, you'll be able to take advantage of the free street parking on Nuuanu Ave. If you go on a weekday or Saturday, it is best to park in one of the municipal parking lots and walk over. They have a few tables for dine in and you can also sit at the counter.

Daily Whisk Matcha

Daily Whisk Matcha is a tea and coffee cafe located in Kaimuki. They are on the first level of Ten Tomorrow. With "matcha" in their name, you have to order a drink that has matcha on your first visit. My favorite so far is the matcha lilikoi soda because it's fizzy and refreshing. I like their matcha drinks because it does not leave a bitter aftertaste in my mouth. They offer a variety of milks as well as sweeteners for the drinks. All the iced drinks come in one size. Their lattes are reasonably priced around $6 but the soda and lemonade are on the pricey side ranging from $7 to $9. They also have a small selection of pastries available.

They are open daily from 8am- 2pm. The cafe is small but they do have seating inside. It can get crowded at certain times of the day but the staff will still make the drinks quickly. There is parking in front of the cafe, 5 stalls are available and it's shared with Ten Tomorrow. If all the parking stalls are taken, there is a paid parking lot across the street with cheap rates.
