Victor's Dessert Lounge

Victor's Dessert Lounge is a daytime pop up at Nanzan Giro Giro. All the desserts on the menu are made by Victor himself. They also offer coffees, teas, and mocktails. My favorites were the Dubai chocolate crepe and iced chocolate. Both were delicious and not too sweet. The desserts are priced between $15 - $18 and the drinks are between $4 - $9. I highly recommend checking out this spot if you love sweets.  For parking, there's metered street parking and a few spaces in front of Nanzan Giro Giro on Pensacola Street.

Broome St General Store - CLOSED

There is a pop-up cafe inside Broome St. General Store that serves coffee, matcha, and pastries. They are located at Ward Village in Kakaako near Whole Foods Market. I enjoyed the miso caramel latte since that's not a drink I've seen anywhere on the island. The olive oil lemon cake and the chocolate banana mascarpone loaf were also delicious. The toasts are photogenic but they're $13 each. The whipped ricotta toast comes with jam and they have a bunch of different flavors. You can choose 3 jams and make it a "rainbow style" toast for an extra $1.50. The pastries are about $8 each. The drinks range from $4 - $10 depending on what you add in (espresso shots, oat milk)

If you are in the Kakaako area, this is a nice spot to hang out at since they have outdoor seating. There are 2 tables that have an umbrella and the rest are partially shaded or might be in the sun depending on the time of day you go. They do get busy and you'll see the line coming out the door but it's worth the wait for the drinks and pastries. If you eat there, I'm not sure if we're supposed to clean up our own table but we did. Some customers don't clean up and just leave their dirty cups and plates and another customer does it so they can use the table.

Junbi Waikiki

Junbi is a shop that serves matcha (green tea) drinks. They are in Waikiki at the Royal Hawaiian Center next to the stage. They have drinks that are exclusive to Hawaii which include guava, POG, yuzu, or lilikoi. I recommend getting something with guava if it's your first visit. I did notice the matcha flavor was light and if you want a stronger matcha taste, consider adding a shot to it. Some drinks don't allow you to customize sweetness so you may want to add more ice or just let the ice melt before drinking it.

Depending on the time of day you visit, there might be a long line, but the line moves fast. They have 2 kiosks at the shop that are self-service, and you pay with a credit or debit card. If you're paying with cash, let the staff know and they'll take your order at a different register. They have other teas and non caffeinated drinks. In 2023, they added soft serve to the menu. The drinks are priced between $5 - $9 and soft serve is $10 - $12. You can get a parking validation if you purchase $10 or more.

a la maison by MAnYU Flowers - CLOSED

à la maison by MAnYU Flowers is a boutique shop in the McCully area that sells unique teas, floral arrangements and home decor. They also have a barista in the shop who makes tea lattes. Their tea tasting menu offers matcha latte, hojicha latte, chai tea latte, and pour over coffee. Each drink is priced at $4. The drink I recommend is the hojicha latte which is made with oat milk and sweetened with brown sugar. While you wait for your drink, you can shop around and see the different items they sell. If you rather watch the barista, you can have a seat at the table and watch your drink being made. They accept cash and credit card.

The shop is located on the 2nd floor above Wagaya, it's the same complex as Mama Woo's BBQ. There is a sign at the gate to go upstairs, call the number on the sign and the shop staff come down to let you in. They have a few parking spaces in the lot but if none are available, you can park in the metered spaces on South King Street.

Daily Whisk Matcha

Daily Whisk Matcha is a tea and coffee cafe located in Kaimuki. They are on the first level of Ten Tomorrow. With "matcha" in their name, you have to order a drink that has matcha on your first visit. My favorite so far is the matcha lilikoi soda because it's fizzy and refreshing. I like their matcha drinks because it does not leave a bitter aftertaste in my mouth. They offer a variety of milks as well as sweeteners for the drinks. All the iced drinks come in one size. Their lattes are reasonably priced around $6 but the soda and lemonade are on the pricey side ranging from $7 to $9. They also have a small selection of pastries available.

They are open daily from 8am- 2pm. The cafe is small but they do have seating inside. It can get crowded at certain times of the day but the staff will still make the drinks quickly. There is parking in front of the cafe, 5 stalls are available and it's shared with Ten Tomorrow. If all the parking stalls are taken, there is a paid parking lot across the street with cheap rates.

Haawi Toast & Tea

Hā'awi Toast & Tea is at the Kaka'ako Farmers Market every Saturday from 8AM - 12PM. They are known for their delicious toast topped with fresh seasonal fruit, vegetables, or local favorites like kalua pork. My favorite is the mango toast and I highly recommend this. The mango toast used to be a seasonal item, but they have a vendor that can provide them with fresh local mango year-round so it stayed on the menu. The toasts are priced between $6-$7. I suggest getting two toasts per person but if you plan on trying other items at the farmers market, one toast per person is good. They also have an iced green tea that's good and strong.

They are located on the side closest to the Kaka'ako Waterfront Park. Like all vendors, they are takeout only, but you can find a grass area to sit and eat or eat while you're walking. They accept cash or card, and you can tap to pay. For parking, you can park for free in the lot across from Ohana Hale Marketplace or find parking along Ahui Street or Ilalo Street. If you do park on the street, please read the signs to make sure you are not illegally parked.

Arvo Cafe

Arvo Cafe is coffee shop located in the middle of SALT At Our Kaka'ako. Besides coffee, they also offer iced teas and toast. The shop is tiny, but they have a large outdoor seating area; some tables are shaded, and some are in the sun. The beverages and food prices are reasonable. The staff are friendly, and they give good recommendations if you're not sure what to try. My favorites are the vanilla latte, meatballs and toast, and the egg salad toast. The meatballs and toast are good if you're feeling extra hungry.

For parking, park in the SALT At Our Kaka'ako structure and ask for validation. The first hour of parking is free. If you go over that 1 hour, it's $1.

Tiger Sugar

Tiger Sugar's first Hawaii location is now open in Honolulu. Their signature drink is the black sugar boba and pearl milk with cream mousse. The boba is made in small batches and kept warm so it stays soft and chewy. The black sugar is what sweetens the drink and there is no customizing of the sweetness level like at the other shops. All the ingredients are imported from Taiwan except for the milk. My favorite was the black sugar boba and pudding milk with cream mousse. The pudding is also made fresh and they were generous with the portion. The black sugar milk drinks come in 1 size and it's $6.

They are located at the corner of Nuuanu Ave. and Vineyard Blvd. in the same complex as Papa John's. The parking lot is small and vehicles can enter from both sides so you can get stuck. I suggest parking on the street in the metered parking spaces along Nuuanu Ave.

Waikiki Tea House

Waikiki Tea House is open for takeout! They offer a variety of Lady M crepe cakes, cheesecakes, and cake. You can buy crepe cakes by the slice or whole. The cakes slices are about $9 each. They also have iced teas and tea lattes. The Lady M crepe cakes are creamier than the other crepe cakes I've tried. I recommend the signature millie crepe cake.

Waikiki Tea House is located in the same building as Henry's Place; they're next to each other. There are 3 parking spaces next to the building and it's for Waikiki Tea House customers. If you plan to buy more than 6 slices, please give them a call before you head over. There is only 1 person working and it does take time to package everything.

Cowcow's Tea

Cowcow's Tea is open for takeout! This is a new tea shop in the Kaimuki neighborhood located next to Asuka Nabu. Their specialty is the yogurt drink and they also have purple rice as a topping. This makes them a little different from the other tea shops. If you like to drink yakult, try one of their yogurt drinks. The cheesy mango was good; they have fresh mango chunks inside. I enjoyed the brown sugar milk tea most. The drink prices range from $5 to $7.

The interior of the shop is nice and their seating looks very comfortable but it is currently blocked off. They only offer take out right now. They accept phone orders but you need to walk in to pay. I was able to do curbside pickup for my phone order and pay with cash. I used my change as tip so the staff didn't have to run in and back out with my money. It was a quick and easy process. If you happen to be in the area picking up food, swing by for a drink.

NIO Snow Ice & Tea

NIO Snow Ice & Tea is a tiny shop near Restaurant Row that offers Taiwanese snow ice, milk teas, and fruit teas with boba. The snow ice is priced between $6-$7 and the drinks are between $5-$6. All the drinks are one size; large. Their boba are softer and chewier compared to the other shops in town. I noticed their drinks are more on the sweet size so it might be best to ask for less sugar and add more as needed. There is a self-serve syrup dispenser on the side of the counter. I recommend the tiger latte boba and matcha lovers. The tiger latte boba has no caffeine and is made with milk and caramel. The matcha lovers tasted like a Japanese dessert. It's a green tea latte with sweeten azuki beans and condensed milk walls.

The seating is limited; there are 6 bar stools. The parking is also tough. If you drive into the alley most of the spaces are reserved or coned off for the other businesses. It is best to find street parking or have someone else get the drinks while you wait in the car in front of the shop.

beachhouse at the moana - Afternoon Tea

Beachhouse at the Moana offers afternoon tea daily along with their normal lunch service. You can enjoy tea on the veranda with the banyan tree and views of Waikiki Beach. The Moana classic tea ($45) comes with 2 mini scones, 5 savory finger sandwiches, 5 mini desserts, a mini scoop of green tea lemongrass sorbet, and a pot of tea. If you want the ultimate afternoon tea experience, go with the First Lady of Waikiki upgrade for an extra $20 and receive a glass of sparkling rosé, berries with creme fraiche, and a souvenir fan.

The outside seating is relaxing and breezy. If you reserve early, you can get the tables at the end of the veranda and your view of the ocean will not be obstructed. The service from the staff were excellent and even though we finished eating, they did not rush us to leave. The dress code is resort wear so shorts and a t-shirt is acceptable but maybe have covered shoes or a nice pair of sandals. The restaurant offers complimentary valet parking with validation but hotel guest(s) have priority if the valet is full. There is also self-parking available in the Princess Kaiulani Hotel across the street; just remember to get your validation. If you plan to come on the weekend for tea, reservations are recommended to get a table with better views on the veranda.

The Veranda - Afternoon Tea

The Veranda at The Kahala Hotel & Resort offers afternoon tea daily from 2pm - 5:30pm and 3pm - 5:30pm on Sundays. If you're coming for the first time, I recommend the classic tea service ($50) which comes with 2 mini scones, 4 savory finger sandwiches, 4 mini desserts, and a pot of tea. If you're celebrating a special occasion, go for the royal tea service ($60) which includes a glass of champagne with a strawberry. The service is excellent and the staff are friendly. The dress code is resort wear so coming in shorts and a t-shirt is acceptable but you are sitting near the lobby and guests do walk by as you're dining. The restaurant offers complimentary valet parking with validation. If you plan to come on the weekend for tea, reservations are highly recommended.
