Dining Room at Laniakea - CLOSED

This place is a hidden gem. Its located inside the YWCA. They are only open for lunch. The menu is limited but the food is delicious. When you dine in there, you don't feel like you're in downtown anymore. If you work in the area, I highly recommend coming here for lunch.

Roy's Restaurant Ko Olina

I've eaten here before on a Saturday but for some reason when I went on a Sunday, the food portions were big. It was bigger than the dinner portion! I think the chefs were having a really good morning. All the dishes at Roy's are good but I personally like the butterfish.

Roy's would be a good place to bring friends who are visiting from out of town. I like the Ko Olina location because it's quiet. They offer inside and outside seating. If you get outside seating, you'll get to watch people golf at the 18th hole and there's also a pretty waterfall.

Lam's Kitchen

The food here taste good and it's cheap! They get really busy during lunch so go before the crowd. Most of the customers who dine here either speak Cantonese or Mandarin. So if you don't speak the 2 languages I just mentioned, you might want to find a friend that does and bring them along.

Jinroku Pacific

If you like okonomiyaki, this is the place to be. The executive chef, Ken, is outgoing and he likes to talk story with his customer. The takoyaki and okonomiya take about 20 minutes to cook so put the order in for that first and then order the other items. I recommend the counter seats because you can watch the chefs cook. Remember to save room for dessert. Their milk pudding is really smooth and silky, it's a must try!

Izakaya Tairyo - CLOSED

I drove by this place a few times before but I never went in because I wasn’t sure if it was good. This place actually turned out to be really tasty! The food portions are just right and their prices are reasonable. Everything was good except for the clams and sweet potato fries. I thought the clams were too bland. The sweet potato fries were soggy but I did like the honey and mayo dipping. It was an interesting combination. I would definitely come back here again.
