Milky Cereal Bar

Milky Cereal Bar creates custom frozen desserts. You select an ice cream flavor and a cereal; they blend it up till it's smooth. Then you select a topping and a drizzle to add over your swirled ice cream. If you don't want to do a custom dessert, you can select from their "favorite combinations" menu which has creative names like apple of my pie, beggin' for s'more, tropic like it's hot, and we're a perfect matcha. I went with a custom milky swirl dessert because I was curious if my own combination would taste good. I choose vanilla ice cream with Reese's PB puff cereal, with teddy grahams and honey drizzle. It worked out well and I liked the slight taste of the PB in the ice cream along with the honey drizzle. I used the teddy grahams to scoop up the ice cream. If you prefer to have your frozen dessert as a milk shake, you can get a milky cup.  The prices range from $7 for a mini milky swirl to $10 for a regular milky cup.

They are located inside Ka Makana Aliʻi at Kapolei. For the shortest walk to Milky Cereal Bar, park near GEN Korean BBQ House and walk into the mall. They have seating inside the shop and there's a waffle cone wall which makes a great backdrop for photos.

Gyu Masu

Gyu Masu offers Japanese wagyu. They are a steakhouse located on the west side of Oahu in Kapolei. The interior of the restaurant is spacious, well lit, and great for dining with family or a group of friends. I highly recommend ordering the wagyu over the other types of beef because the wagyu is fatty and will melt in your mouth. They portions are small and it's best to order your own steak and share the sides. The staff were very friendly and they checked on us often to make sure we were good throughout the meal.

For parking, you can park in the hotel parking lot or parallel park along Manawai Street in front of the restaurant. The restaurant has 2 entrances, you can enter from the front door on Manawai Street or the side door which is by the Embassy Suites Kapolei pool. If you have 4 people or less, you can walk in but if you have 5 or more, it might be best to make a reservation.

Mad Bene - CLOSED

Mad Bene in Kapolei Commons offers pastas and New York style pizzas. This is a great place to eat with a large group because they can push tables together. I recommend doing family style dining, so you get to try more dishes. The pastas are portioned for 1 person and are priced between $20 - $25. The pizzas can be shared between 2 people and are about $20 each. The pizzas here are the same as Pizza Dadi in Ward Centre. My favorite dishes were the gnocchi, mafaldine alfredo, crispy potato guy, and tiramisu.

They have indoor seating as well as patio seating. If you sit inside, it can get loud during dinner especially on the weekends. The staff assigned to our table that evening was friendly, and the timing of our dishes were just right. I've dined here for lunch before, and the service was slow because there's less staff. If you are planning to dine with a large group (6 more more), I highly recommend making reservations a week in advance. For parking, there's lots of open spaces available at Kapolei Commons, just try to find something close to the movie theater so you don't have to walk as far to the restaurant.

Roy's Restaurant Ko Olina

I've eaten here before on a Saturday but for some reason when I went on a Sunday, the food portions were big. It was bigger than the dinner portion! I think the chefs were having a really good morning. All the dishes at Roy's are good but I personally like the butterfish.

Roy's would be a good place to bring friends who are visiting from out of town. I like the Ko Olina location because it's quiet. They offer inside and outside seating. If you get outside seating, you'll get to watch people golf at the 18th hole and there's also a pretty waterfall.
