Agu Ramen - CLOSED

They are located across from the Old Stadium Park in Mo'ili'ili. Their broths for the ramen are very good. They also have the level 5 spicy ramen which my friends enjoy. The spice level is really inconsistent though. Sometimes your mouth will burn and sometimes you'll be fine. For first timers, I recommend getting the kotteri tonkotsu. You can skip the gyoza and use that money for extra ramen toppings or the small dishes instead. The ground pork for their gyoza is mushy.

The interior of the restaurant is small and I don't recommend going with a big group. When you get to the restaurant, remember to sign in and then step outside to wait. They don't take reservations and they are really busy. They have a big parking lot in the back and 4 parking stalls in front of the restaurant which are usually taken.

Poi Dog Philly

They are currently at Taste in Kaka'ako doing pop-up lunches and dinner. Their food is a fusion of Mexican and Hawaiian. Some of my favorites include the mochi nori fried chicken taco and the philly lumpia. They have a lot of items on the menu and you get 2 pieces per order for the tacos and lumpia. It's a little on the pricey side but it is something new so it's worth trying. I recommend going right when they open because some of their items do sell out fast. To find out which days they'll be at Taste, check out their facebook or twitter.

Nagomi Japanese Teppan & Lounge - CLOSED

The newest and most attractive restaurant on Kapiolani Blvd near Ala Moana. This used to be a club with a dark glass exterior but now it's all light up. The interior is very clean and spacious. This a good place to come with family and big groups. They specialize in teppanyaki which means if you reserve the counter seats, you can watch the chefs cook.

The portions are small and you might want to double up on some items such as the seafood nagomite and the bacon wrapped mochi since you can't find those elsewhere. I really enjoyed their desserts. They were perfect for sharing and the taste was not too sweet. They have parking in the back of the restaurant and there are signs telling you which spaces are for Nagomi customer. The restaurant is currently BYOB since the lounge side is not in operation yet.

Siam Palace Thai Restaurant - CLOSED

They are located in Kaimuki on the corner of Waialae and 8th Ave. It's a small restaurant that serves authentic Thai food. I call this one authentic because I have a friend who is Thai and they say this is pretty close to real Thai food and it's not infused with Laotion flavors.

I've come for lunch a few times and I've always enjoyed the food. One guy runs the front and the back of the house. The restaurant doesn't get busy during lunch so the food comes out pretty fast. The fish patties and garlic shrimp with extra garlic are good.

There is free parking in the back of the restaurant but some of the stalls are tight. The parking lot in the back is small and it's shared with other businesses and the residents of the building. If you see an open space on the street, just park in that and feed the meter. The restaurant excepts credit cards. They are closed for lunch on Sundays and Mondays and all day for certain holidays. I do recommend trying this place if you are in the area.
